Open to summer 2027 internships

Hi, I'm Arjun Kiran, I build full-stack apps, study ethical hacking, and lead teams on the side.

I like building things that are actually useful to the people around me: a heat-relief finder for Phoenix summers, a focus timer, a graphing calculator built from scratch. This site is a running log of that work, plus a few detours into games and hobbies.

What I build with

Toolkit

The languages, platforms, and non-technical skills I actually reach for, grouped by what they're for rather than dumped in one pile.

Languages & the web
JavaScript
My default for anything interactive: dynamic UI, live updates, and the logic behind every app on this site.
Python
Readable and versatile: what I reach for on backends, automation, and anything involving AI or data.
HTML
The structural foundation of every page I build: content and layout before any of the styling happens.
CSS
Layout, color, type, and responsive behavior: the difference between something that works and something that feels good to use.
C
A lower-level language that taught me how computers actually manage memory and run instructions.
Platforms & infrastructure
Firebase
Google's platform for shipping fast: auth, hosting, and a database without standing up my own servers.
Cloud Firestore
A flexible NoSQL database I use to store and sync app data in real time across users.
GitHub
Version control and hosting for every project's code, and where I collaborate with teammates.
Full-stack dev
Comfortable owning both what a user sees and the servers and databases running behind it.
Security & AI
Cybersecurity
Studying how systems get attacked so I can help build ones that hold up: currently deep in GCU's GenCyber program.
AI / ML
Learning the fundamentals through Cisco's Networking Academy and Anthropic Academy, including how to train and deploy models.
Leadership & process
Leadership
Guiding a team toward a shared goal: built through committee work and running my own internship team.
Public speaking
Presenting ideas clearly and confidently, from committee updates to hackathon pitches.
Project management
Organizing tasks, timelines, and people from an idea on a whiteboard to something shipped.

Experience

Seven things I'm actively part of right now. Tap a role to read more about what it actually involves.

Me and a team of highschoolers who collaboratively worked to acheive 1st place in the Frostbyte Hackathon led development on a game upload platform and an internal admin dashboard, working directly with the founding team on architecture decisions, not just implementation. This is where most of my full-stack skills get put to real use: real users, real deadlines, real bugs at 11pm. Right now I am getting inducted into abnother team, and working on another site called TALA.
Built websites as part of a flagship program empowering young men of color to thrive in tech, with mentorship from working engineers and a cohort of other students building alongside me.
Studied ethical hacking and national security fundamentals in a program with federal backing from the NSA, NSF, and FBI: hands-on labs in network defense, not just theory.
Worked through the science behind artificial intelligence and machine learning: the math and mechanics underneath the tools I already use day to day.
Led a team of peers on student-driven service projects and internal outreach initiatives at BASIS Phoenix: planning, delegating, and following through.
Graduated the WebDev 2025 track and continuing into AI & Machine Learning 2026, through Kode With Klossy's free two-week summer camps for students in STEM.
Graduated from the AI Fluency: Framework and Foundations course, learning how to work effectively and responsibly alongside AI tools.

Honors & record

Education

The academic side of things, plus the one hackathon trophy I'll never stop mentioning.

BASIS Phoenix
Student & NJHS Committee Head · Grade 8 · Aug 2023 – May 2030
Balancing a rigorous academic track with volleyball, basketball, and NJHS Committee Head duties focused on internal outreach. BASIS runs on a college-prep model, so AP coursework starts early: I took my first one in 8th grade.
Frostbyte Hackathon: 1st Place
Issued by The Code Hatch · Feb 2026
Won first place building a city-scale global warming simulation platform with a four-person team in 8 hours, on top of my regular work at SkipCourse LLC. Full story is on the Work page.

About Me

Not every part of my week involves a keyboard. Here's the rest of it: the instruments, the courts and fields, the food I never say no to, and the culture I grew up in.

Who I am
The short version
Friendly, outgoing, and usually the one starting the conversation. I'm a proud Malayali, and my culture, from the food to the festivals to the language, is a big part of who I am.
Music
Violin · Chenda · Piano
I play violin, piano, and the chenda (a traditional Kerala percussion instrument), and I've performed pieces on all three at community celebrations. Music is where my brain gets a break from debugging.
On the field & court
Soccer · Basketball · Volleyball · Chess
Soccer, basketball, and volleyball are the sports I compete in, and chess is what I play when I want to feel smart after a long day of coding. Practice comes first, code comes after.
Food & culture
Malayali at heart
I love my culture, and I love food from all over: Indian, Mexican, Chinese, and Vietnamese are the four I'll never turn down.
Outdoors & two wheels
Hiking · Ebiking
When I need to get away from a screen, I'm either out on a trail or on my ebike putting in miles just for the fun of it. It's the easiest way I've found to clear my head between projects.

Volunteering
Community volunteer & performer
Kerala Hindus of Arizona · Apr 2017 – Present (9+ yrs). Youth Director for Performing Arts at a cultural non-profit, helping plan and run performances for the community.
Off the clock
Friendly & outgoing
Pickup basketball, a chess match, or meeting someone new: I like showing up with energy. It's probably why the "currently learning" list up top keeps growing.
